ICA Kvantum Emporia and Swegreen sign a contract to launch the first in-store farm of Malmö

Malmö, Sweden - ICA Kvantum Emporia and Swegreen have arranged a contract to bring locally grown and sustainable leafy greens to the store’s customers just before summer of 2023. In May 2023 Swegreen will install an in-store farm at ICA Kvantum Emporia in Malmö, which will allow their customers to purchase fresh lettuce, leafy greens, herbs, and spices grown directly in the store.

With its world-unique innovation, Swegreen enables the retail industry to offer more sustainable and locally grown alternatives to the consumers. Growing vegetables hyper-locally in stores is a more sustainable way of consuming food with reduced transport negative impacts and lower emissions with Swegreen's circular and sustainable technology.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with ICA Kvantum Emporia to bring our in-store farming technology to their fantastic store," says Pierre Mohlin, CEO of Swegreen. "Our goal is to make sustainable and hyper-locally grown greens accessible in more locations, and this partnership is a significant step in achieving that mission in South of Sweden and province of Scania."

ICA Kvantum Emporia is a leading food retail store in Malmö, with a commitment to sustainability, environmental and social responsibility. Located at Emporia, which is one of Europe's most prestigious shopping centers in Hyllie Malmö with many awards in their back pocket, ICA Kvantum Emporia has a very international atmosphere at a frontrunner shopping center.

"We are excited to be working with Swegreen to bring fresh and sustainable greens directly to our customers" says ICA Kvantum Emporia’s Store Franchiser, Johanna Isaksson. "This partnership is a perfect fit with our commitment to sustainability, and we look forward to exploring new ways to make our store even more engaging and offer an attractive shopping experience to our visitors."

The in-store farm installation is set to begin in the first weeks of May 2023 for a SAGA unit from Swegreen that has a capacity of production 3500 plants per month on site, and the store shall do their first harvest in the end of May.
