Defence & preparedness

Fresh food that doesn’t depend on the next delivery.

Swegreen grows lettuce, cabbage and herbs on site – all year round, independent of imports, seasons and transport. For units, bases and central supply, in peacetime, heightened readiness and crisis.

The film is an illustration – we have no farms with defence forces yet.

The challenge

Fresh produce is the most vulnerable link in the supply chain.

Long supply chains

Vegetables often travel far, through many hands. When transport is disrupted, fresh produce is the first thing to disappear.

Imports and seasons

Much of the leafy greens many countries eat is imported. Availability and price depend on weather, season and world events.

Endurance

A varied, nutritious diet is part of personnel’s ability to perform and recover – over long periods.

Three concepts

A farm for every level of readiness.

The concepts can be combined. The same technology and routines are used in peace and in crisis – personnel train for what they will do when it matters.

Peacetime

Farms at unit dining facilities

The farm stands where the food is cooked. Personnel harvest daily and build routine and skills.

  • Fixed fee per farm and month
  • Staff trained in harvesting and care
  • Experience ahead of heightened readiness
Heightened readiness

Relocatable and standby farms

Active farms can be moved when the situation requires. Ready-to-start units in storage are activated when needed.

  • Farms that move with operations
  • Standby units ready to start
  • Stock of seeds, nutrients and plugs
Peace and crisis

Central farm supplying several units

One large farm produces for several units and bases. Produce is delivered through your own logistics.

  • Staffed by Swegreen
  • Widest range of crops
  • One fee per farm

Built to work when it matters.

All year round

Production around the clock, every day of the year – independent of season and weather.

Closed and soil-free

Grown without soil or pesticides, in a closed system with controlled light, water and nutrients.

Monitored 24/7

Digitally controlled and remotely monitored, with technical service and on-call support around the clock.

Own supplies

Seeds, nutrients and plugs are stocked as part of the service. Volumes are agreed together.

Small crew

Personnel are trained to harvest and care for the farm. It takes little time and no prior experience.

Predictable cost

A fixed fee per farm and month. Easy to calculate and budget.
